But what are the underlying causes of back pain?

Incorrect strain on the muscles, unaccustomed movements or even injuries can lead to muscle tension and pain in the back.
-> Bad posture:
Sitting or standing for long periods in an incorrect posture can trigger pain in the back.

Scoliosis also causes back pain. This is a curvature of the spine beyond the normal level.
