Kinesiology tapes are those colorful adhesive strips that are often seen on athletes.
Many may think "what is such a colorful ribbon supposed to do?" and the effect of the colors is not really proven either, even though color theory says that each color has a special effect.
But then what do these tapes do?
Due to their elasticity, the tapes can adapt to the movements of the skin and body. They slightly lift the top layer of skin, creating a free space between the upper and lower skin. Receptors that belong to nerves, blood vessels and lymphatic vessels are located there. In addition, muscles are stimulated, which can relax better as a result.
They work in a supportive capacity with
-> the increase of blood circulation
-> the reduction of swelling
-> the relief of pain
So it's not just a myth that surrounds the tapes. They can actually relieve discomfort!
