How meniscus pain develops

Do you suffer from pain in your knee? Then it may be that the meniscus is pinching you.
The meniscus is a structure made of cartilage in the knee that acts like a shock absorber between the thigh bone and the lower leg bone.

The meniscus can be damaged by overuse or incorrect loading, among other things. But age-related signs of wear and tear can also trigger a painful meniscus.

For example, if you no longer have an anterior cruciate ligament, meniscus damage can occur more quickly because your knee is more unstable overall, causing wear and tear to progress more quickly.

Injuries more often affect the medial meniscus because it is fused to the medial ligament of the knee joint and is therefore affected more quickly.

By the way, muscles and fascia can also be to blame for your meniscus pain. If they are tense, this can be transferred to the meniscus.

Depending on the cause of the meniscus pain, we plan your individual therapy with you. The goal here is to relieve the pain and restore the functionality of the knee joint.
