What is CMD?

CMD stands for Craniomandibular Dysfunction.

This is a collective term for diseases of the temporomandibular joint.

These include:

-> Pain in the temporomandibular joint

-> ground teeth

-> muscular problems of the masticatory musculature

Many people are not immediately diagnosed with CMD because, for example, headaches, earaches or back pain are also associated with other diseases.

The most commonly documented risk factors in dentistry are misaligned teeth and psychological stress of any kind. Many people with CMD also grind their teeth at night, which usually makes CMD worse.

Many sufferers experience a high level of stress in everyday life because the symptoms of CMD are very painful. To get relief, a timely diagnosis and targeted treatment of CMD is necessary.
