(Sun) light is very important for the normal functioning of the body. For example, it helps in the synthesis of vitamin D in the body and can positively influence depression.
Already Aesculapius and Hippocrates pointed out the healing power of the sun, among other things, for various skin diseases.
In the late 19th century, the Norwegian Niels Ryberg Finsen began medical experiments with light. In 1890, using both focused sunlight and a carbon arc UV lamp, he successfully treated skin tuberculosis(lupus vulgaris). From then on, light therapy was enthusiastically used by medical professionals and Finsen was awarded the Nobel Prize in 1903.
Bioptron light therapy has a very wide range of applications.
